Scientific Research Ethics Committee

The guidelines for the ethics of research in the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences at King Khalid University is based on the system of ethics of research on living creatures and its executive regulations panel issued by the National Committee for Bioethics at King Abdul-Aziz City for Science and Technology. Due to the need to launch a committee for the ethics of scientific research at the college, the decision was originating through the College Council No. 207 dated 3/4/1440 H following the system of ethics of research on living creatures issued by Royal order No. (M / 59) 14/09/1431 and its executive regulations panel issued by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology No. 215221 / M / 10 dated 29/01/1433. The Local Committee was registered with the National Committee for Bioethics at No. HA-06-B-085 dated 11/4/1440 H to take the legal formula so, that the local committee will be responsible for any research conducted at the university and to ensure that the researchers are committed to research regulations and guidelines that determined by the National Committee.

The Commitee announced that the commencment of submission for the research ethics started from Wednesday 26/12/2018 as follows:

  • The appropriate form has to be filled in a Microsoft Word file and sent to the Committee's email : (correspondence is only via this email).
  • The research should be sent to the Committee by the principal investigator's email.
  • All requirements, available on the Committee's website, should be completed during submitting the proposal and sent to the Committee's email.

  • To apply the highest ethical and professional standards when faculty staff conduct their research on living creatures in compliance to the dominant Islamic Sharia and the prevailing regulations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and rules of King Khalid University.


  • All scientific research conducted should be submit to the ethical rules of scientific research publishing related to the human being or an animal. All research done at King Khalid University should consider the renewed and modernized needs of the community in the region.


  • The Committee aims to establish the general rules of ethics when using the living creatures or parts of them or their genetic material in the fields of research.
  • Professional practice without a conflict with the Islamic Shariah instructions.
  • Protecting the human rights when being researched or any part of it, ensuring its safety and dignity, and not to harm animals when subjected to scientific research.
  • Continuous evaluation, monitoring of research submitted and the application of the medical research ethics and standards.

Committee role:

  •  To coordinate with the National Committee for Bioethics to apply the ethical standards for biomedical and medical research according to the executive regulations panel of the system of research ethics on living creatures.
  • Develop and prepare internal research policies and regulations that are in line with the united principles for scientific research in Saudi universities.
  • To ensure that the research is agreed to the scheme of research ethics on living creatures, also to protect and confirm the safety of the human rights subjected and to certify that the children or the disabled people are not exploited in scientific research in any way.
  • To monitor the application of the general principles and controls the using of the living creatures or parts of them or their genetic material in the fields of research in the guide of the system of ethics research on living creatures.
  • Ratification of approval procedures after the informed consent.
  • Review scientific research and follow-up, ensure compliance with the standards and ethics of scientific research, recommend the granting ethical approval to conduct the research or rejected or returned to the investigator to complete the necessary research elements.
