King Khalid University Organised IT Workshop

Within the third gathering of the Sports Federation of Saudi Universities, King Khalid University has won the competition of the university suburbs which was organized yesterday by the Federation under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Education who is in the same time the Chairman of the Federation, Dr. Ahmed Al-Issa. Bisha University hosted the event in the presence the Rector of Bisha University, Dr. Ahmed Naqadi, the Governor of Bisha Mohamed bin Saeed bin Sabra, the President of the Federation, Dr. Abdullah Al-Buqami, the Secretary-General of the Federation Dr. Salah Al-Saqqa, and Dean of Student Affairs at the University of Bisha Dr. Mohammed Al-Ajim. In the second place came the team of Jazan University in the 5.8 km race in which 150 runners participated representing 25 universities and governmental and private colleges. The third place was for the team of King Abdul Aziz University while the Islamic University team came in the fourth place, followed by King Saud University in the fifth place. The team of Umm Al-Qura University was in the sixth place, and Al-Baha University came in the seventh place while Taif University team achieved the eighth place. In the individual competitions, results were as follows: Runner Faisal Ethorchoy from the Islamic University won the first place with 02:48:27 minutes. The second place was achieved by the runner of King Khalid University, Aqeel Al Ameri with 00:59:29 minutes. In the third place was the runner of King Abdul Aziz University, Mohammed Medhaji with 30:13:00 minutes. The fourth place was for Issam Abdul Hamid with 30:24:00 minutes. The fifth place was achieved by the runner of Taif University Yusuf Asiri with 30:55:00 minutes. Fahid Al Harthy from King Khaled came in the sixth place with 30:59:00 min. In seventh place was the runner of the University of Hail, Abdul-Mohsen Al-Malaq with 31:06:00 minutes. The runner of Taif University, Thamer Al-Mutairi came in the eighth place with 30:13:00 minutes. In the ninth place was the runner of Tabuk University, Ahmed Magrashi with 31:23:00 minutes. In the tenth place was the runner of Jazan University, Bandar Hassan with 31:24:00 minutes. The Rector of the University of Bisha, in addition to the President of the Federation of Sports Universities, the Secretary-General of the Federation, the Media Advisor to the Federation to the Media Committee Chairman, Dr. Turki Al-Ayyar crowned the winners of the first places in collective and individual competitions. For his part, the President of the Sports Federation of Saudi Universities, Dr. Abdullah Al-Buqmi thanked the Rector of the University of Bisha for the great success achieved by the championship in terms of technical and organizational areas. He further praised the great efforts made by the University administration to equip the venue and the crowning and to prepare all ways to get out this race in a distinctive way. Finally, Dr. Al-Buqmi congratulated the winners and their universities, and he wished luck to those who tried but couldn’t achieve advanced places.
Dr. Ameen Ghamaz, Assistant Professor, Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Science and Arts at King Khalid University, participated in a study on the contribution of the Islamic Culture Courses at King Khalid University to the development of societal modest thinking at the international conference, "The Duty of Saudi Universities and Their Impact on Protecting Youth from Groups, Parties and Deviations." The conference was organized by Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University and took place at the Conference Building in the University City under the auspices of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, may God protect him, in the presence of a number of Rectors and officials, and the participation of more than one hundred scholars from different Arab and Islamic countries. The conference was held earlier last week.  
As part of the initiatives of the Deanship of e-learning at King Khalid University, which places a central focus on open learning coupled with a relentless pursuit of cementing the aspirations of Vision 2030 to contribute to the provision of opportunities for science and learning for all while providing participants the necessary skills to achieve their goals, the Deanship has recently launched KKUx platform. Its mission is to effectively contribute to providing the most critical skills for future jobs with global-quality electronic content that substantially benefit hopeful job seekers or anyone who wants to develop their skills. This initiative is the first of its kind at the level of the Kingdom's universities in terms of its focus on "skills of the future" based on Vision 2030.  One of its axes focuses on "learn to work" in order to propel the economy forward by focusing on the development of necessary skills and personal talents.  The skills of creativity, innovation and leadership are the soft skills needed for the future generation. In this platform, the University seeks to diversify the experiences of our sons and daughters and provide them with the critical skills required by future careers. King Khalid University is no longer limited to publishing its online content on a limited scale; rather, it has grown to the international level. Owing to our popular success, the University seeks to help all relevant stakeholders in acquiring quality skills and personal talents that form the baseline skills needed to build a prosperous and happy future.  After the successful launch ten months ago by the University Rector, His Excellency Dr. Faleh Bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy, the platform successfully made qualitative partnerships with four partners: General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises    British Council    Chamber of Commerce in Abha    Rizq Entrepreneurship in partnership with Ghlo A number of technical courses were offered during this period:    IELTS Preparation (2 sessions)    Basics of establishing start-ups (3 Courses)    Design Thinking (2 sessions) More than 5,000 trainees from inside and outside the Kingdom benefited from these courses, and in the survey of beneficiaries, the satisfaction rate exceeded 97%. Continuing to introduce new and diverse skills, KKUx is announcing the launch of three quality skills courses during the first quarter of 2018 with the following titles: User Experience (10-1-2018 to 9-2-2018) Exploring the World of Entrepreneurship (1-2-2018 to 28-2-2018) a new and qualitative entrepreneurship course in collaboration with the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and a trainer from the World Bank Group. Earlier this week, His Excellency, the Rector of King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Faleh Bin Raja Allah Al-Solamy, inaugurated a comprehensive range of e-services. In cooperation with the Scientific Council Secretariat, the General Directorate of Information Technology has implemented and staged the launch of e-government services. Because of this, faculty members will substantially benefit from three different services including - but not limited to- the academic file, the promotion system, and merit-based scientific excellence awards. At the beginning of the inauguration ceremony, the Deputy CIO, Mr. Wael Asiri, presented a detailed explanation of the new e-services. In his presentation, he talked about the essential features of the services that will be offered to faculty members. He showed how the academic file service enables a faculty member to organize and store all of their academic information in one convenient location. He also explained how the promotion system service allows the faculty member to submit an e-request, in addition to the ability to measure and assess numerical promotion rates. Moreover, Mr. Asiri showed the attendees how to apply for the scientific excellence awards in its various categories. In his speech, the University Vice-President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Saad Al-Omari, explained that the e-services developed for the Scientific Council were under the Rector’s guidance. Dr. Al-Omari further added that the Rector stressed the necessity for automating all faculty member e-transactions to reduce the estimated time required when performing related operations. Previously,  a delay would occur in most of the faculty members’ promotion requests. As a result, the new e-service system serves to reduce administrative efforts, increase transparency in procedures, and enable the applicant to manage and track requests. To conclude, Dr. Al-Omari emphasized that the new system will significantly reduce the time it takes to submit promotion and/or excellence requests by creating an integrated academic file for each faculty member that includes a separate area detailing scientific output. At the end of the ceremony, the University Rector directed officials of the Scientific Council Secretariat to immediately begin deployment of the new services at the beginning of the spring semester. Finally, he thanked all those who were involved in this promising project that is a key component in the University's vision and ambition to be a leading university in the regional and global arenas. As a final point, it is worth mentioning that the regulations of the new services passed through a full procedural cycle beginning with the request submission, then passing through the council of the department, the college and the scientific council, and ending with arbitration.
